Bridal Shower Favors

My niece is getting married next month and we're having a shower for her this coming weekend. While trying to decide on shower favors, I decided that since I'm a card maker I would make cards. So this past weekend I made 26 copies of three cards and packaged them up to give out at the shower. I'm hoping the guests will be pleased to receive a gift they don't need to feel bad about re-gifting. All three designs are birthday themed because I figured everyone can use birthday cards.

For the first card I stamped the Amuse Studio polka dot background stamp on a kraft card base and then used the Papertrey Ink Botanical Silhouettes set for my focal piece.

For the second card I stamped a birthday sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Birthday Bash set and the cupcake from their Everyday Classics set. I mounted the cupcake on a nestabilities label and added some twine and a red jem.

For the third card I used Anna Wight's Wildflower Shilhouette set from Whipper Snapper for the floral image and Clear and Simple Stamps Icons Extra for the sentiment.

Now that I had the cards done it was time to come up with some cute packaging. I pulled out a package of brown paper lunch bags and cut them down to 6 inches then wrapped a doily and fabric scrap around the side and secured them with some twine. I really like how they turned out.

Now I need to get going on making some decorations. I'm going for a shabby chic look so my plan is to make some banners out of sheet music and doilys and muslin. I'm also hoping to have time to make some pom poms out of coffee filters to hang over the food table. I'll be sure and take more pictures at the shower.

Still playing with fabric

I'm having the best time adding fabric bits to my cards. I hope you're not tired of this style just yet. I used the scallop heart nestabilities with some warm and natural fabric and then sewed around the heart with a tan thread for a little extra detail. The flower die is from Papertrey Ink. The fabrics are some fat quarters that I got from my Mom. I really like the way this turned out. I think I'm going to have to make some more of this style to put in my stash.

Fabric scraps

I was helping my Mom yesterday prep for a fabric sale and scored some beautiful fat quarters and some assorted scraps that I thought would be lovely on cards. So, when I got home I immediately Sat down and made a couple of cards. I used pieces of a paper doily and the butterfly dies from A Muse Studios along with my fabric scraps.
