Another Milestone Birthday

How about a card celebrating a 40th birthday for today? Again, I didn't make it with anyone particular in mind, I'm actually planning to list it in my Etsy store. It's very similar to yesterday's card but I went with a black card base and used My Mind's Eye Home paper for some color. The numbers are from the Cuttlebug Olivia set. The number background from the Glitz Distressing stamp set is stamped in A Muse Studio Wheat ink. The sentiment strip edges are inked with some Vintage Photo Distress ink and the sentiment is stamped in SU Basic Gray ink. The sentiment is from the PTI Big & Bold Wishes stamp set. Instead of using twine on the tag, I used some custom dyed ribbon

A Milestone Birthday

It's always fun to have a special card for a milestone birthday. Today I have a card celebrating a 30th birthday. I didn't make it with anyone particular in mind, I'm actually planning to list it in my Etsy store. The card base is SU Not Quite Navy with a PTI Rustic Cream mat that I stamped with the number background from the Glitz Distressing stamp set in A Muse Studio burmuda ink. The sentiment strip edges are inked with some Vintage Photo Distress ink and the sentiment is stamped in A Muse Studio Navy ink. The sentiment is from the PTI Big & Bold Wishes stamp set. The floral piece is a journaling card from October Afternoon's Detours line. The tag and numbers are from the Cuttlebug Red Tag Sale set. I also added a circle punch of October Afternoon Freshly Mown Lawn paper from the Daydreams line and a rustic cream circle die cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities Large Pinking Circles. For the finishing touch on the tag I tied some twine from The Twinery on the top (honeydew, caribbean, peapod).

T is for Tin and Teacher

I found some tins at a sale awhile back and while I didn't have a plan for them when I bought them I knew they would come in handy. Yesterday I had the idea to decorate them for teacher gifts. I pulled out some paper, ink, stamps and dies then got to work. Here's a look at the top of the tins. For the black background piece I used my Corner Chomper to round the corners and then stamped the numbers from Glitz Distressing stamp set using ColorBox Frost White pigment ink. I was going for a chalkboard look.

For the focal piece on the top I decided it should be a magnet. That way it can be removed and placed anywhere. The larger piece is a die from My Favorite Things. I cut out a layer of chipboard and a layer of SU Red Riding Hood cardstock and glued them together. The red cardstock was then stamped with the grid pattern stamp also from the Glitz Distressing stamp set using Versamark ink. The next layer is PTI's Fillable Frames die with matching stamp set for the border (also stamped with ColorBox White Frost pigment ink). The sentiments are from PTI's Teacher's Apple set and stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and SU Real Red on SU Crumb Cake cardstock. That piece is mounted with foam dimensionals. For the finishing touches there is an apple also from PTI's Teacher's Apple set stamped with SU Real Red, Kiwi Kiss and Chocolate Chip inks and a bow of Charcoal twine from The Twinery.

I add a piece of SU Crumb Cake cardstock with a stamped apple to the back of the tin to cover up the printing on the tin. This would be a nice place to personalize the tin for the teacher or have your student write a little note.
For now my tins are empty but you could fill them with any number of things including notecards, a gift card, candy . . . just to name a few.

Thanks so much for stopping. I hope you're having a wonderful week. Happy Stamping!

My Friend Magnets

Today's post features some magnets that I made recently. I started with the spiral notebook page die and kraft cardstock both from PTI. Next I stamped the script stamp from Glitz Design in white pigment ink and my friend from PTI's Botanical Silhouettes in black. For the finishing touch a used the Beautiful Blooms ll set 1 dies to cut out some fabric flowers and finished it off with a button center.

Here is a close up of the magnet.

Color Inspiration Challenge

Today's card is for the Paper Crafts Color Inspiration Challenge #2. I'm not too sure about the color combination but I think the finished card isn't too bad. I wish I had used a lighter blue/grey color but this is what I had on hand. For stamps, I used the Dress form set from PTI and the Distressing set from Glitz Designs for the script background.

I can't believe it's Friday already. This week really went quickly for me. I hope you have a good weekend! Thanks for stopping. Happy Stamping!

Happy Friday!

We've made it to Friday! Thank goodness because this not being able to sleep past 4:30 a.m. is going to catch up with me soon. I fear that I'll need to spend Sunday catching up on sleep. Ok, on to the crafty stuff. One of my girlfriends is having a birthday tomorrow so I put together this card for her.

Her favorite color is purple so color selection was easy.  I stamped the big Whipper Snapper cupcake and colored it with reinkers and an aqua brush. Once it was dry I added some glue and glitter to the frosting. I love how much it looks like sugar crystals. The sentiment and frame are from MFT. Two weeks ago I had to go to Chicago so while I was there I stopped at Hobby Lobby where I found a great background stamp set from Glitz Designs. The numbers on the background are stamped with versamark using one of the stamps from my new set.

For the second card I made a simple bug card with this adorable Chubby Love Bug from Whipper Snapper. I colored him with Copics and paired him up with some My Mind's Eye and K&Company papers. I also used a white gel pen to add some freckles to his checks.
